Birding Hot Spots in McFarland

Are you looking to broaden your birding horizons? Do you need a little guidance in how to start? Join us as Shawn Miller, local experienced birder, teaches us about the hot spots for birding in McFarland.

Guided Bird Walks
Monday, May 6 & Friday, May 10, 7-9 AM
Join birders Shawn Miller & Heidi Cox on an early morning walk through the Indian Mound Conservancy. See which birds you can spot and identify! Bring binoculars, wear good walking shoes, and dress appropriately for the weather. The walks will happen rain or shine, barring any storms. Please note: Exchange Street is currently under construction. We will meet at the Yahara Drive entrance of Indian Mound Conservancy (back corner of the school forest).

McFarland Bird Festival
Saturday, May 11, 9 AM - 12 PM
Join fellow bird lovers at the McFarland Bird Festival! From 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 11th, visit the Lewis Park shelter to experience all the festival has to offer. Explore booths with information and activities, enter the prize raffle, and enjoy guided bird walks, all at beautiful Lower Mud Lake, a wonderful area for bird watching.

Angela Puerta Music Showcase
Sunday, May 19, 2-3 PM
Join Angela Puerta and her vibrant 4-piece Latin band for a fun and educational musical experience. Learn about Afro-Colombian rhythms like Cumbia, Bambuco, and Vallenato, and develop a profound appreciation for cultural diversity. She encourages the audience to dance and sing in both English and Spanish, creating an interactive and lively atmosphere.
