New version of LINKcat arrives April 17

A new version of our online catalog LINKcat will go live on Friday, April 17 for all South Central Library System libraries and users.

 

LINKcat and the LINKcat mobile app will be unavailable starting Sunday, April 12 at 5:00 PM through Thursday, April 16 as we transition. During this time, we will be on a backup system with limited services available:

  • You MUST have your library card to check out items and pick up holds. Self-checks will not be available. We will not be able to look up your account with a name or ID. If you use the digital barcode in the LINKcat app, take a screenshot before the downtime on Sunday, April 12.

  • You can only pick up holds for another person if you have their library card.

  • Please avoid returning items if possible, as we will not be able to check in anything during the transition. Due dates will be extended and we no longer charge overdue fines. 

  • We will not be able to search the catalog or place holds.

  • Printing, Overdrive/Libby, and other online resources WILL be available.

 

When the new system becomes available:

  • PINs/Passwords will be reset to your birthday (MMDD). You will have the option to change your PIN after logging in if you'd like. Detailed instructions will be shared at help.linkcat.info.

  • Please allow extra time for returned items to be removed from your account as we work through the backlog and adjust to the new system. 

  • If you have opted to save your checkout history in LINKcat, it will not be available immediately, but will come online at a later date.

  • Don't Miss Lists will continue to be available in the updated LINKcat, but the exact start date has not been determined. Watch for updates at help.linkcat.info.

  • The “New This Week” list will not be available after the update. A replacement option may be added at a later date.

 

New features in LINKcat include:

  • The ability to manage Overdrive/Libby checkouts and holds from within LINKcat. 

  • Several changes to the search feature in LINKcat, including the ability to browse authors and subjects. 

  • Ability to reset your password via email and update specific contact information like email address and phone number.

  • Streamlined display with larger font and more white-space for improved usability.
