Who are the Friends of the McFarland Library?
We are a group of book lovers, information seekers, listeners, viewers and thinkers. We worked hard to help provide McFarland with its first library, and to realize the dream of expanding into the new library. Now that we have a beautiful building and an excellent program, there is still work for the Friends to do.
What do the Friends do?
We are the fundraising and support group for the library and as such have several projects throughout the year, including periodic used book sales and annual apple pie sale. The money we raise helps to enlarge the collection of regular and large print books, audiobooks, CDs, and DVDs at the library. We sponsor the Summer Reading Program, as well as special programs and guest speakers.
If you order from Amazon, you can help us to raise money by using this link and designating the Friends of the McFarland Library as the organization you would like to support: Amazon Smile. A percentage of the money you spend will be donated to the Friends by Amazon.
What volunteer opportunities are available with the Friends?Assistance is needed in the following areas:
- Fundraising projects (book sales, apple pie making, etc.)
- Service as Friends officers
- Special adult programs
- Processing new library materials
When do the Friends meet?
Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom for now. Everyone is welcome — please join us! Contact the library for the Zoom link.
