What is 100 Books Before Graduation?
Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to read 100 books before you graduate high school! Anyone in grades 6-12 is welcome to join this challenge and track what books you read prior to graduating. There are no time limits, so participants can start and finish any time before their high school graduation. Reading can be difficult to fit in during middle and high school, but we encourage you to read at your own pace and track what you can; this challenge is entirely self-paced and there is no time limit to complete it. This program, much like the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten and 500 Books Before Middle School, is meant to promote literacy as well as a lifelong love of reading.
Participants will track their reading through the Beanstack app/ website. During the course of the program, there will be prizes to win to encourage participants to continue working towards their 100 book goal!
Who can participate?
Any students in grades 6-12.
What can you read?
Reading choice is 100% up to you! Assigned books for school, graphic novels, manga, audiobooks, and ebooks all count. Any books you read for other reading challenges, like the Summer Reading Challenge, also count to this goal! However, you can only log books you've read after you register for the program. So, that book you read in fourth grade doesn't count. However, if you decide to re-read a favorite, that completely counts!
If you are a lover of fanfiction, you can track your reads based on word count. Every 50,000 words you read counts as one book; so, if you’ve read five shorter fanfictions of about 10,000 words, you can count that as 1 book.
