The Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held on Thursday, September 21 through Saturday, September 23.  It runs 9 AM to 4 PM Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Find great bargains on fabulous used books & DVDs at the Friends of McFarland Library Used Book Sale!

On Thursday, September 21, Friday, September 22, and Saturday, September 21, visit the library's community room to shop the sale. The sale runs from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM all three days.

Prices:

Adult Hardcover: $2.00 Adult Paperback: $0.50

 

Proceeds benefit the E.D. Locke Public Library. Thank you for your support!

Farm to Table Dinner

TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW!

The E.D. Locke Public library is proud to host a Farm-to-Table event on Thursday, September 21, 2023, as the opening event of the McFarland Community Festival.

Kyle Julius of Chef at Large Catering will prepare a mouth-watering meal using delicious local ingredients.

The evening begins with a 5:00 PM social hour. Mingle with friends and neighbors over drinks and snacks. Dinner is served at 6:30 PM. The keynote speaker of the evening is Kalvin Barrett, Dane County Sheriff.

Tickets are $100 per person and include beer, wine and mocktails, appetizers, dinner, dessert, and entertainment. This event is for 18+ and ID's will be checked. Absolutely no carry-ins. 

Tickets may be purchased at the library with cash, check, or credit card. If paying by credit card, you can order via phone by calling 608-838-9030 and pick up the tickets at your convenience.

Run, walk, stroll, or dance at the E.D. Locke Public Library's second annual 5K Run/Walk and Kids Dash.

 

There are three ways that you can participate:

In person 5K

We are excited to offer an in person event on Saturday, September 23, 2022.  Run, walk, or dance your way through the course and enjoy post-race refreshments.  Strollers are allowed.  

Virtual 5K 

T-shirts and race packets can be picked up at the library beginning September 22. Participants from outside the area may request a t-shirt be shipped for a fee.
Run or walk a 5K any time from September 23 - October 2.
Choose your route and run anywhere.

Kids Dash 

Children may register for a 1/3 mile fun run. Each registered participant will receive a t-shirt. Parents may join in at no additional cost.

Ideal for children ages 3-6

Register by September 9 to guarantee your shirt!

All proceeds from the event benefit the E.D. Locke Public Library.

Stop by the library parking lot during the McFarland Community Festival!

Starting at noon, kids of any age can enjoy carnival games like Matching Ducks, Porkchop Speedway, Fishing Hole, (Temporary) Tattoo Parlor, Sucker Pull, and more! All games are FREE! 

Additionally, ice cream sundaes will be for sale for $3 (cash only, please). All proceeds go to the library VolunTeen program. 

 

 

 

 

 

Cemetery Walking Tour

Summer 2023 McFarland Cemetery Walking Tours are July 11 (6:30-8 PM), August 1 (6:30-8 PM), August 15 (6:30-8 PM), and September 24 (1:30-3 PM).  Register online or inquire at the library

Local historian Ron Larson will lead his popular historical walking tours again this summer!

 

Sunday, September 24, 1:30-3 PM: Veterans

Hear about the lives, stories, and sacrifices of the nearly 150 military veterans buried in McFarland's cemeteries.  Register here for the last walk.

 

For each walk, we will meet at the library's front entrance.  Please wear good walking shoes and weather appropriate attire.

 

Trivia

Friday, September 22nd from 5:00pm - 6:30pm.

Head to the festival main tent and test your trivia knowledge! Hosted by local resident and Jeopardy! 3-time champion Patrick Fernan.

 

50/50 Raffle

Support the library by participating in our 50/50 Raffle Fundraiser. Purchase raffle tickets at the library or the Farm to Table Dinner for $5 each or $20 for 5.

Cash, check, or credit card are accepted. The winner receives 50% of the total amount raised, and the other 50% goes to the Friends of the McFarland Library.

Drawing will be held Monday, September 25th at 10:00 AM, need not be present to win.
