Virtual Author Talks with Library Speakers Consortium

We are excited to offer a new virtual program to our patrons!  The Library Speakers Consortium hosts virtual author talks over a variety of genres.  Each month, there will be at least two talks available for you to attend.  Register for each talk, submit questions for the Q&A, and peruse past author talks at our microsite, https://libraryc.org/mcfarlandlibrary.

Writing the Nightmare: A Ship Called Sickness and One Unforgettable Space Crew with Daniel Kraus

Prepare to launch into the darkest depths of deep space! Join us online as we sit down with master storyteller Daniel Kraus, winner of the 2026 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, to celebrate the release of his breathtaking new novel, The Sixth Nik.

Where the Paletero Man Goes: A Journey of Neighborhood, Music, and Art with Lucky Diaz
Thursday, September 24, 6-6:30 in English, 7-7:30 in Spanish

Grab a pocketful of change and get ready to dance down the street! Join us for an energetic conversation as we celebrate the joy of community and summer fun with Latin GRAMMY-winning musician Lucky Diaz, author of the sensational bilingual picture book, Paletero Man. Inspired by the vibrant rhythms of Los Angeles and Diaz’s own hit song, this beautiful story invites readers into a sun-drenched neighborhood where the ring of a bell means the best treat of the day is just around the corner.
